Gallery 495 is a contemporary art gallery owned and directed by Mike Mosby. The gallery exhibits both local, national, and international artists working across various artistic mediums and disciplines. With its inaugural opening this fall, Gallery 495 emerges as an evocative new exhibition space bringing both artists and art enthusiasts together from across the Hudson Valley and beyond. The gallery is located at 495 Main Street in Catskill, New York. Gallery 495 will open with an exhibition by Myron Polenberg, a Hudson, NY-based painter and sculptor, in September 2023.
The inaugural exhibition, Out of Many, One, unveils the profound artistic vision of Myron Polenberg. With a career spanning over 50 years, Polenberg’s work has entered a new phase of exploration. Polenberg’s September exhibition will show a body of work that invites both a visual and experiential contemplation on the many themes that have been central to his artistic practice thus far, mainly concepts related to processing, obscuring, revelation, and destruction. Early in his creative career, Polenberg worked in advertising and design. His unique professional ability to convey and direct communication for the consumer market has given way in his most recent years to a purist sensibility. Meditative at their core, Polenberg’s works challenge our understanding of permanence.
Gallery 495 is located in a newly renovated industrial complex, formerly a trophy factory and automobile shop. Breathing new life into the edifice, Gallery 495 blends the village's small-town heritage with a contemporary flair. Mike Mosby, a Hudson Valley native, brings a local touch that gives unique insight into the region's needs and burgeoning tastes. Having worked as a curator in Hudson Valley for several years, with projects spanning from the Capital Region to New York City, celebrating a diverse group of multigenerational artists. Mosby plans to make Catskill, NY, a significant and meaningful arts destination.
Out of Many, One opens this September 2023 at Gallery 495 located at 495 Main Street, Catskill, NY 12414. The entire Gallery 495 team is happy to invite all artists, art lovers, and community members to join us in celebrating the opening of the gallery and or inaugural exhibition by local artist Myron Polenberg this fall.
