NewsKarina Sharif | Limited Edition Print Release
We are pleased to announce the release of a new limited edition print by Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist Karina Sharif.
The edition celebrates Sharif’s ongoing exploration of wearable sculpture, a practice that moves fluidly between object, garment, and performance. Integrating wearable and non-wearable works, her sculptures transcend traditional storytelling while paying homage to domestic practices reimagined through a contemporary lens. Sophisticated yet playful, these meticulously crafted paper forms occupy the gallery space as sculptural works while activating the body through adornment and movement.
Central to Sharif’s practice is the representation of Black Femme-hood. Her wearable sculptures evoke protection, beauty, and presence, affirming the Black Femme narrative within both physical and historical space. Guided by themes of rest, adornment, spatial impact, and sensory experience, each work is created with careful attention to its relationship with the body and its surrounding environment.
Constructed through an intricate process, Sharif’s paper sculptures celebrate the multitudes of divine Black Femme-hood while offering a vision of restorative presence and possibility. This new print edition extends that vision, presenting collectors with an opportunity to engage with an artist whose work continues to redefine the expressive potential of paper, sculpture, and the body.
