NewsJamel Robinson Accepted into the 2025–2026 Silver Art Projects Residency

Gallery 495 is pleased to congratulate represented artist Jamel Robinson on his acceptance into the 2025–2026 Silver Art Projects Residency. The highly competitive New York City residency provides artists with year-long studio space, professional mentorship, and opportunities for critical dialogue, supporting the development of ambitious new work within a dynamic community of contemporary artists.
Working across painting, assemblage, sculpture, installation, poetry, and performance, Robinson creates deeply personal works that confront the histories and lived realities of the Black experience in America. Through layered materials and an expressive visual language, his practice explores memory, resilience, spirituality, and transformation, weaving together individual narrative with broader cultural histories. His work has been widely recognized by museums and institutions, including the Hudson River Museum, where his acclaimed exhibition Beauty from Ashes received coverage in The New York Times and CBS News.
Robinson’s acceptance into the Silver Art Projects Residency marks another significant milestone in a career distinguished by institutional recognition, public engagement, and an expanding body of multidisciplinary work. Gallery 495 is proud to celebrate this achievement and looks forward to the new work that will emerge during his residency.
